Kamenjak is located in southern Istria at 10km from Pula, near Premantura and since 1996 has protected area. A dirt road from which there are numerous tracks secondary crosses the peninsula, from Premantura to the sea. The peninsula is 3400 meters long and wide between 500 and 1600 meters and has a highly indented coastline with numerous bays and picturesque hills and valleys that run parallel to the mainland. In the sea in front of you find eleven uninhabited islands, including the island of Fenoliga on which were found dinosaur footprints. in the extreme south of the park there are several caves, including the largest is the Great and Small Kolumbarica which takes its name from the pigeons that once nested there. The park is one of the most interesting flora and, in a relatively small area, home to more than five hundred plant species - including thirty-protected plants (especially orchids including Serapias and Perko Perko Serapias and bombyliflora Ophrys).
Kamenjak besides being a beautiful natural park Kamenjak has the most beautiful and spectacular beaches of the Pula distributed along 30 km of coastline with cliffs, caves, bays and inlets. Kamenjak is accessible by car, on foot bike boat - who arrive on foot or by bike does not pay the entrance, while motorists and motorcyclists there is a ticket to pay ... but it's worth it! The main beaches are Pinizule, a small bay of white pebbles surrounded by high cliffs, Polje, a bay of white pebbles, Plovanje, Njive, Kolumbarice - flat high cliff from which to dive into the sea - Drazice, Debeljak, Portic a bay frequented especially by boaters.
The area of the Grand Krsin Kamenjak is the natural habitat of the toad - endangered species protected by law - and twenty-nine species of birds including the swift brown. The seabed have an ecosystem rich and complex, and are home to many animal and plant species protected including the snub seahorse (hippocampus guttulatus), the castanet (or Periska - triangular shell that lives fixed in the sand or rock), bivalve molluscs such as Lithophaga . There are also two marine reserves of particular interest: one includes all the waters of the islands of Sekovac, Fener and Ceja, the other comprises the area between the island Fenoliga, the island Debeljak to the bay of Kamenjak. Kamenjak the park is famous for its picturesque bays: there are more than thirty connected by dirt paths and indicated by signs that define the main features. Among them we indicate the Bay Pinizule gravel and pebbles with stone slabs for sunbathing - there is a restaurant and nearby you will find the path of the dinosaurs, and a pedestrian-bike path ideal for lovers of trekking and bike tourism or more inexperienced
